CHOREOGRAPHY/MUSIC

So far we had two great rehearsals. Adele had a chance to really work on the music at our last rehearsal and I taught the choreography to the opening number. Tonight Cathy will work on acting. Please encourage your children to not only practice their songs and dances at home but to “listen ahead” to their music for our upcoming rehearsals.

MEMORIZATION

It is also very helpful if parents or older siblings can help run lines at home to help with memorization. It makes it so much easier to block scenes and teach choreography when the scripts are not in the way.

DISCIPLINE

This is just a reminder that all children are to be respectful of our church sanctuary/Fellowship Hall and should not be running around the altar or playing tag. Remember, the Sanctuary is God’s House and we should treat it with respect.

TUESDAY REHEARSAL

Please make note that if your child has lines in the scene(s) being run on a Tuesday night, they must come early to that rehearsal, meaning 5:30 pm. Please double check the rehearsal schedules to see if your child is in the scene(s) being blocked. Thanks!

SAT REHEARSAL

This Saturday’s rehearsal is from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. It’s been great having cast members arrive 5-10 minutes early to help us get started on time!

COSTUMES

Our costume designer, Sara Alsop, will be sending out a letter soon describing our costume needs in detail. In the meantime, thank you for bringing in some costume choices. We will let you know soon which outfits work. It is helpful for the children to start practicing in the shoes that they will wear in the show to make sure they are broken in by the time of our performances. Black jazz shoes are the best choice (check Payless Shoes for a good price). Little black shoes with straps or black tennis shoes will work as well. Boots will work as well. For safety reasons, please do not wear flip flops for dancing.

THRIVENT

Are you a Thrivent Financial member? If yes, please let us know! Thrivent offers special member benefits that support ministries like C-MENT.

FUNDRAISING BASKETS

Do you have any decorative baskets/boxes or wrapping material that you can donate toward our opportunity drawing baskets? Please bring items to rehearsal anytime. Thank you!

ACTING TIPS HOMEWORK (Do these in front of a mirror)

  • “Plant”: Stand with your feet comfortably apart, your arms at your sides, your hands open.
  • Plant with Expression Homework:  Practice the following expressions while you are “planted”–   happy, sad, surprised, angry, scared, and then pick one expression you want to practice.

VOLUNTEERS and CHAPERONES

Please make sure any family member over 18 who plans to volunteer with C-MENT has completed a background check. Contact Adele Buffington (music@plc-church.org) for more information. She will help you through the quick and easy process.

THANKS

Big thanks to all the children who are devoting their time to C-MENT and to you, their parents for your support of this ministry. This season will be a rewarding time for all who are involved.

In His Name
