It All Happened in the Country

C-MENT Newsletter #8

November 29, 2018

Dear C-MENT Families:

As we enter the final days of rehearsals, please take time to read through this newsletter carefully as there are a lot of details. With everyone on board, it will make the remaining days of this season smooth and efficient.

IMPORTANT: SAT REHEARSAL – This Sat., Dec. 1 from 9:00 am – 2:30 pm. Tech crew comes in early. This is our technical Cue-to-Cue and is a long day. Please send a hearty lunch with your child if you did not order a SUBWAY SANDWICH as well as an extra water bottle and morning snacks. If you would still like to order a Subway lunch for your child(ren), please do so by today, Thursday, 11/29 (just click the link above).

COSTUMES Please make sure your child has all their costume pieces and is bringing a plastic bin with them to hold everything this Saturday, December 1 for the Cue-to-Cue rehearsal. The bin will stay at church through performances.

ORNAMENTS:  Also needed this Saturday, Dec. 1:  please bring a homemade ornament to use in the show. Red, green and white colors are best. Thanks so much! We will make sure to return them to you after the show!

PROGRAM BIOS/NOTES:  If you have not yet sent in your child’s bio and additional note (shh!), please complete these items and send them post-haste to Kimberly Lynch.

Green Room Monitors/Stage Hands/Dressers: Please know your schedule and plan to attend accordingly. Dressers should be at dress rehearsals to get their script and learn the cues and know which performances they are assigned. Note:  no cell phones backstage, please! Thank you!

HEALTH:  It is important for the children (and all of our cast/crew families) to continue to get lots of rest, eat well and drink lots of fluids so as to stay healthy during these hectic next two weeks. Let’s pray for continued health for all. Again, keep washing those hands! We also ask that you ensure that your child(ren) bathes/showers daily to help keep their costumes smelling good for the production. Thank you!

PREVIEW SUNDAY:  This Sunday, 12/2 all cast members are to arrive at church at 9:00 am and meet upstairs in choir room A204. We will warm up voices and perform at the beginning of the 9:30 am service. Performers are then dismissed for Sunday School or welcome to stay for the service. The video preview will be played at the other services. We will all wear blue jeans and our C-MENT show t-shirt which you received on Tuesday night. Girls:  please wear your hair for the preview as you will for the shows.

PUBLICITY

We hope you are all advertising the play! Please invite all of your friends and family so that they can put the dates on their calendars. If you wait too long, people will be busy with other holiday activities. Invitations for you to personally deliver were handed out and electronically sent. We have found that a personal invitation from you to your friends is by far the best way to build audience attendance! You can also share the ad from our C-MENT Facebook page. Thanks for your help!

SEAT SAVING:  Please note that there is absolutely no saved seating for any C-MENT show. Any parents in the Sanctuary during pre-show rehearsal will be asked to leave by 6:30 pm. Doors open at 6:30 pm, so you may want to stand in line or have another family member stand in line for seats. We appreciate your respect and understanding. You have the option to donate to C-MENT for 4 reserved seats and one reserved parking spot for the performance of your choice. Click here to sign up for the C-MENT VIP Package! Space is limited and reservations are honored in the order they are received. Thank you for your support!

C-MENT DVD PRE-ORDERS:  “It All Happened in the Country” will be professionally recorded on video by Cypress Productions on Friday night, 12/7. Pre-orders of the DVD are now available. Early bird pricing of $20 is good through December 15. After that, DVDs will be $25 each. Pre-order your copy by clicking here. Please note:  DVD orders will only be taken online or by check to Adele Buffington made to “PLC” with “C-MENT DVD” in the memo line. Thanks!

SET STRIKE:  A representative from each family is required to stay to strike the show at the conclusion of closing night (Sat., 12/8). Many helpers make the strike go quickly. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.

SET LOAD-IN:  Set load-in will be this Sunday night, Dec. 2 at 7:00 pm. With many hands, the set load-in should not take long. Please bring electric drills if you have one.

TECH WEEK:  Next week is Tech Week (see schedule below). All children are to come at 5:30 pm already wearing their base clothes. Ensemble will get dressed in their costumes, and leads will get their mics on. Rehearsals will end at 8:30 pm. Younger ones can be taken home earlier if needed. Please let us know.

WEDNESDAY LINE REHEARSAL All cast members who have more than two lines must come to line rehearsal from 5:30-7:00 pm on Wednesday night, Dec. 5th.  We will meet in Room A204.

Thanks again for your support and dedication to the C-MENT ministry. We are here to ignite the light of Christ in our cast and audiences!!

In His Name,

Betty King, C-MENT Director
